Hello everyone, I'm Mr. Draper, and welcome to our Year 3/4 class page. Here you will find some useful information about what to expect this year, what I expect from you and most importantly lots of the fun things we might be able to get up to this year!

Manners, Respect and Effort.

The three qualities we always expect in Grange and specifically in the Year 3/4 classroom!

If you strive to achieve these then you will succeed in class, in Grange and in your future lives!

Important class information

Homework:

Every Friday the pupils will develop their spelling skills and be tested on their weekly lists. A new list will be issued every week so please ensure that pupils ahve an opportunity to practice these at home. Additionally on a Friday, pupils mental maths recall and multiplications fluency will be tested. These can be practiced at home using the Sumdog platform.

Reading:

Children are provided with opportunities to read independently and for pleasure daily in Year 3/4

Therefore, your child will be expected to have a reading book in school every day. These can be borrowed from our book corner, a book-banded book, or their own book from home. These books can be kept in their lockers at school or brought home if they wish to continue reading in their free time. We will aim to change our reading books every Tuesday so that we are not bringing the same book home week after week.

P.E

Our P.E session will be every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their P.E which should include suitable footwear and comfortable, flexible clothing that can be worn indoors or outdoors.

This term our P.E topic is invasion games which will include games such as; Netball, Basketball and Benchball.

Drinks Bottles and Snacks:

We are a Healthy School and promote the children having continuous access to clean water. Please ensure your child brings in a labelled drinks bottle. This is in addition to any water bottles you wish to provide for lunchtime. The children will have continual access to drinking water throughout the day. If they would like to bring their own snack for playtimes, please ensure it is healthy (e.g. fruit, vegetables, or cereal bars).

Our topic this term is

Do you have the time to Mix It Up? Year 3 and 4 this half term will be carrying out extensive market research, testing and endless baking to create the perfect cake mixes ready to sell at our Christmas Fair. The children will be putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test and be looking to turn some of their ideas into a profit. Working with some local suppliers the children will begin to understand the importance of trends, profit and loss as well as the impact on our community these suppliers have. They will be researching current trends, local specialities and developining cake mixes which will suit even the grandest tastebuds in this tantalising topic! The children will push their creative and enterprising skills to the maximum and hope to achieve a target they will set themselves in the ultimate of bakeoffs!
