'Christmas' and '2B Enterprising'

2B Enterprise inspires the next genration of ambitious, healthy, enterprising and informed citizens.

It raises the aspirations of young people, whilst introducing them to valuable life experiences and life skills.

 

Our ‘Christmas’ topic learning will contribute towards us creating our very own ‘Christmas Shop’.

The 2B project will provide us with the valuable networking skills we will need to achieve this goal.

 

 

 

Language, Literacy and Communication:

 

Listening and Talking

I can:

• watch and listen for information and discuss what I have heard (Useful resource: Christmas Around the World PowerPoint)

• say what I know about Christmas around the world and say what I would like to find out

• share my own opinion and justify

• organise my personal research to help me deliver a talk about Christmas traditions and celebrations in a country of my choice

 

Reading

I can:

• explore non-fiction texts about Christmas around the world

• show my understanding by answering some reading comprehension question (Useful resource: Christmas Around the World Comprehension Sheet)

• share whether or not I found a particular text interesting and useful

 

Writing

I can:

• create a Christmas card with verse

• create an information leaflet about how Christmas is celebrated somewhere else

• write to describe the events of Christmas in a different country

Persuasive Text Type:

Design advertising posters, leaflets and digital advertisements to sell products in class Christmas shop

 

Science and Technology:

I can:

• research to find out about Christmas traditions in different countries

• search for images of Christmas being celebrated around the world

• research to find out what food is eaten around the world at Christmas time

• help prepare some snacks/food for our ‘Christmas Around the World’ celebration afternoon

 

Maths and Numeracy:

I can:

• perform addition calculations

• perform subtraction calculations
• identify British coins and notes 

• perform simple addition and subtraction calculations practically with coins

 

Humanities:

I can:

• ask others in my class and school how they celebrate Christmas

• research and discuss Christmas traditions in different countries

• compare and contrast Christmas time in Scotland with a starkly contrasting country, like Australia

• research and discuss the traditions and customs of Christmas in a country of my choice and use this to prepare a short solo talk

 

Expressive Arts:

I can:

• take part in a Christmas school production

• create a piece of art inspired by a Christmas tradition from another country

• take part in singing some festive songs

• listen to any one of the following songs and share my thoughts: - Petit Papa Noel (France)

- Dormi, Dormi, Bel Bambino (Italy)

- Mi Burrito Sabanero (Venezuela)

- Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit (Philippines)

 

Religious Education:

I can:

• research and discuss the key features of festivals and celebrations held around the world at Christmas time

• compare and contrast my own celebrations and traditions with those from around the world

• describe the link between beliefs and celebrations
